Welsh sporting great shares experiences with forum businesses
Members of Bridgend Business Forum are in for a real treat in the New Year, as rugby legend, passionate Welshman and true ‘Scarlet’, Scott Quinnell is confirmed as its guest speaker for St David’s Day 2018!
The popular business breakfast event will return to the Coed-y-Mwstwr Hotel on 1 March 2018, offering excellent opportunities for local businesses to network and also raise their profile through the many sponsorship options available.
Scott started playing rugby for Llanelli Juniors at the tender age of eight years old.
He played his first game for the Llanelli Scarlets at the age of 18, and went on to play 146 games for the Scarlets scoring 69 tries for his beloved home club, under the guidance of Gareth Jenkins, his only Llanelli coach.
Scott also pursued a career in rugby league before returning home, to Wales to don the precious Scarlets jersey once again. No money in the world could buy that kind of passion! Scott enjoyed finishing off his playing days unfortunately, prematurely due to injuries in his wrist and knees.
He played for Wales 52 times and scored 12 tries; Scott loved playing under Graham Henry's reign and still calls him coach to this day as a mark of respect. Scott also played for the Barbarians and went on two British Lion tours in 1997 and 2001 he scored five tries and one test try.
He currently works in the media, occasionally working for ‘Sky Sports’, ‘Real Radio’, ‘The One Show’ and ‘A Question of Sport’ amongst many others.
He is also a patron of the Princes Trust, Make a Wish foundation and The Welsh Dyslexic Association. Scott also speaks occasionally around the UK about learning difficulties to adults and children, Scott has done this for 12 years he has even spoken in the Houses of Parliament on three occasions.
Scott's speech has inspired teachers, pupils, adults and parents to realise that you can make a success in your life despite being dyslexic.
